Becoming a new mom is like jumping into the deep end of a pool.
We can feel like we’re sinking, floundering, struggling, just trying to come up for a breath of air. But how do we rise?
Hey Mama Friend Was Specifically Designed for YOU (and here’s why)
Well, I’ve found that there is such an abundance of information online and everyone wants you to believe their way is the best way. However, I don’t think that’s the case.
Motherhood and your personal role as a mom is as unique as your fingerprint. There is no one-size-fits-all solution.
What works for me, may not work for you. What works for your best friend may be disastrous for you. And that’s just the truth.
While experts may try to convince you that there it ultimately only one way to mother, I’m here to dispel that myth and let you know that you’re an awesome mom, keep doing what works for you.
I am tired of looking around and seeing moms caught in the trap of comparison. So many people are struggling with it, and there just hasn’t been a solid resource created to help them feel confident in motherhood.
So I decided to build it. Let me explain the what’s, why’s, and how’s right now.
Hey Mama Friend Was Designed for New and Expectant Moms
Hey Mama Friend was designed for new and expectant moms to be empowered in their own style of mothering.
There are so many types of styles of “mom-ming” out there. You might be crunchy, vegan, rules-based, disciplined, attachment parenting, respectful parenting, go with the flow, scheduled, and the list goes on and on.
I think I got tired of seeing so much advice claiming to be the best and only way to be a mother. Over my very short tenure as a mom, I’ve seen that a group of moms can parent similarly or differently and still raise a good human.
A mom knows her child best and is meant to be that child’s mother. But like I mentioned, motherhood is not a cookie cutter thing. It is unique and one of a kind, even for moms of multiple kids. The parent-child connection is special and can’t be duplicated.
So I wanted to let new and expectant moms to feel confident in paving their own way. You don’t have to listen to an “expert” if you don’t agree with them. You don’t have to do a certain thing if it doesn’t feel right to you. If your child is safe, thriving, happy, and shaping up to be a good human, you’re doing a good job.
Hey Mama Friend was built to share options in mothering
I know, that might seem weird. Most other blogs out there hold a stance on how to raise your children a certain way. But I’m convinced that there is no absolute “right” way. Yes, there are basics like making sure your child is fed, clean, and cared for, but there isn’t one right way of feeding, cleaning, or caring for a baby.
In my own experience as a mom, I have cloth diapered and done sleep training. We did baby-led weaning but also did some purees. We try to have mostly open-ended toys, but we also have screentime. Some people might say these things can’t co-exist in the same parent. I’m here to say, you totally can.
We’re all moms trying to do the best by our children. We’re figuring it out on the fly. It’s like trying to open a parachute as you’re already free-falling from the plane. We do the best we can with what we have. And no two moms are alike.
So if you’re looking for absolute, one-way only type advice or recommendations, then this isn’t the place for you. I want to show new moms that you can be awesome in the mothering style you choose.
