Hi! I'm Catie

Fellow Mom, Blogger, and Photographer

Hey, Mama Friend!

Hi, I’m Catie and I’m the blogger behind Hey Mama Friend.

Becoming a mom is exciting and terrifying. Fun and exhausting. Amazing and sometimes tear inducing.

I started Hey Mama Friend to help support expectant moms, new moms, and veteran moms in their journey of motherhood.

It’s not easy.

But it’s so worth it.

For me, motherhood is all about finding your groove. Figuring out what works best for you and your family.

There is no one “right” way to be a mother or parent.

I find that’s what can be the hardest these days, navigating motherhood with the omnipresence of social media.

It can feel really hard to try and keep up with other moms if we’re comparing ourselves with their highlight reels.

Comparison is truly the thief of joy.

And in my short tenure as a mom, I’ve come to find that above all else, YOU DO YOU.

Welcome to Hey Mama Friend!

If your family is safe, healthy, and doing well, congrats! You’re killing the game already.

I know there are times in motherhood when you may feel stuck, at a loss for what to do, or at the brink of wanting to give up. So you turn to the internet for answers. And you get a lot of opinions about those answers.

Who Am I?

I’ve been married to the best man in the world for 12 years and I’m the mom to a 3 year old boy and 10 month baby girl. We live in the belt buckle of the Bible Belt, though I’m originally from California, aka The Best Coast.

I started blogging as a way to share my thoughts with other new moms. Even with a plethora of information on the internet, when I was a first-time mom, I felt like there was something missing.

I guess I got overwhelmed with all the different “mom doctrines” and discovering that mom shaming is real and it can feel icky and scary to even witness it.

I’m here to tell you, “You’re doing it right.” If your family is safe, alive, and well, keep doing you’re thing and don’t get caught up thinking that you have to do it like anyone else. You and your family are one of a kind.

There is no ONE SIZE FITS ALL family.

So, welcome to motherhood, mama friend!

You’ve come to the right place to find a judgment free zone for all things motherhood.

I am really good at listening and offering advice where I see fit. The perfect afternoon or evening would be some time with girlfriends have a nice, long, deep conversation. I’m also really good at remembering dates, birthdays, and anniversaries, but please don’t ask me about what happened last week!

What will I help you do?

I would like to help you with feeling confident in your journey as a mother. Trust me, none of us have it all figured out. There’s always a curveball being thrown and we’re just doing the best we can with what we have.

How do you figure out what is right?

Well, I believe that there’s ultimately no “right” answer. There’s just a solution that works for you.

For example, we sleep trained our son. We also did cloth diapers. We did baby-led weaning and purees.

The internet might tell you that some of those philosophies are diametrically opposed.

But listen, if it works for you, why not?

So Hey Mama Friend is here to be your support. To offer a range of solutions, or sometimes a link to get more information, to your burning questions about motherhood and parenting.

I can tell you right now, I don’t have all the answers. I’m figuring this parenting thing out as I go.

Every mom’s motherhood journey is going to look different. That’s why it’s imperative to never compare where you are with a friend, or worse yet, a stranger on the internet.
